Juris Simanis, MD, CAQSM, RMSK, FAAFP, family and general practice physician with Parkview Primary Care, Sports & Occupational Medicine Clinic in Bolivar, has earned a Diploma in Mountain Medicine from the Wilderness Medical Society.
The DiMM is an internationally recognized course certifying that the participant has undergone rigorous training and testing. The Wilderness Medical Society has partnered with the University of Utah and the University of Colorado to offer the program. Part of the course requirements includes rescue techniques on alpine mountaineering terrain on the glaciated slope of Washington’s Mount Rainier and cliff and crag rescue in Utah’s Wasatch Range.
Dr. Simanis joined the Citizens Memorial Hospital medical staff in 2007. He is board certified in sports medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound and family practice. His practice and procedures include all sports and athletic related injuries, expert concussion evaluation/treatment, joint, muscle, tendon and ligament injuries. Simanis is also a volunteer ski patroller in Weston and was recently recognized by the National Ski Patrol for 20 years of volunteer service.
Dr. Simanis attended medical school at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va., and completed a residency at Carilion Roanoke Family Practice Residency Program in Roanoke, Va., and a fellowship at University of Missouri Sports Medicine Fellowship Program in Columbia.
