Imphal, January 19 2018:
The Chief Minister's approval has been made compulsory before sanctioning any amount greater than Rs 2 crore.
Finance Department issued an office memorandum to this effect on January 8 and the new step is a part of the State Government's initiative to reduce fiscal deficit and in view of the State's unhealthy financial condition, informed a source.
In line with the office memorandum, any proposal to sanction above Rs 2 crore would be sent to the Chief Minister to obtain due approval for expenditure sanction, encashment permission and cheque drawal authority, added the source.
