DALY CITY — A 25-year-old Fairfield man was arrested this week on suspicion of impersonating a Daly City police officer, police said.
On Wednesday, Amiliano Santiago reportedly approached a Daly City woman, identified himself as a Daly City police officer and exchanged phone numbers with her.
Police said Santiago also sent the woman multiple pictures of him wearing “police style gear” and displaying firearms.
On Thursday, Santiago reportedly arranged to meet the woman at an undisclosed location, where he was arrested by officers on suspicion of impersonating a police officer, a misdemeanor.
Santiago was driving a Ford Explorer outfitted with police equipment, including lights and a siren, police said. He also reportedly had a ballistic vest and other tactical gear, including a Taser and a collapsible baton.
Additional details about the case, including how police came to be involved, were not immediately available Friday.
The case remains under investigation and anyone with information can call Daly City police Detective Patrick Dolan at 650-991-8147.
