Ujjain: Pilgrims killed in Tamil Nadu bus accident laid to rest

Ujjain: The bodies of four pilgrims who died in a road accident on January 17 on their way to Kanyakumari from Madurai were brought to the city on Thursday night. Their funeral procession was held on Friday and was attended by a large number of people from the Sindhi community and others.
The bodies were taken to their homes in Govardhan Sindhi colony and Mahakal Sindhi colony from the civil hospital mortuary on Friday morning for their rituals. From there, the bodies were taken to Premprakash Ashram in Subhash Nagar, where the whole Sindhi community was present to bid an emotional farewell to the deceased.
The deceased Vidya Pohwani (60) and Ramesh Pohwani (52) of Goverdhan Sindhi colony and Laalchand Samtani (72) and Tikam Samtani (56) of Mahakal Sindhi Colony were on a religious trip with other members of their family when their bus fell off a narrow bridge at Thalavaipuram in Tuticorin ,Tamil Nadu.
Ramesh Pohwani’s son Moksh Pohwani (11), wife Sonam Devi (47), Chandra Pohwani (56) and Sunita Pohwani were also injured in the accident. Moksh along with his sisters Roma and Priyanka arrived at Premprakash Ashram to pay a final tribute to his father and aunt. Sonam Devi was informed about the death of her husband and sister-in-law just before the funeral procession.
Laalchand Samtani’s sons Lekhraj Samtani and Bharat Samtani who have a business in Spain, arrived in the city with their family to attend the final rituals of their father and uncle. A traffic jam resulted at Sindhi Colony Chauraha due to the large number of people came to attend the procession. Tirathdas Ramlani, Roop Pamnani, Deepak Belani, BJP urban unit president Iqbal Singh Gandhi, coporators Rinku Belani and Santosh Yadav were present in the funeral procession.
