DUNEDIN — A 60-year-old Clearwater man who likely had a medical episode while driving is now in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after rolling over his car, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
A Largo police officer noticed a 2010 Dodge Nitro driving erratically on Milwaukee Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
The driver, Jessie Myrick, hit a parked car and kept driving, deputies said. That’s when the officer began to follow Myrick.
Myrick lost control of his car, drove off the road and struck a tree. The car rolled over and landed on its roof.
First-responders had to extract him from his car. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he is being treated for critical injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies said Myrick did not appear impaired and said a medical episode likely caused both crashes.
