Finally, a week in Bollywood where we saw some major controversies getting cleared. Padmaavat, one of the biggest projects and most awaited films of last year, had to be pushed to 2018. Thanks to the protests against its release and delay in CBFC certification. But even though it get a UA certificate and a release date for January 25, 2018, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial was banned in some Indian states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh etc. In a masterstroke of sorts, the makers of the Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor starrer, who had been lying low all this while bogged down by the things said against the film, moved to the Apex court to lift the ban. The Padmaavat makers succeeded in doing that and more. The film will now be a solo release without Padman eating into its box office business. It will further benefit from the long Republic Day weekend.

Akshay Kumar who is known to bring out his first film of the year around the same time, happily let go of the release date and pushed his film for February 9, 2018. At a joint press conference, the filmmaker and actor united to announce the same. Akshay agreed that Padmaavat deserves to get a solo release and ASAP while Bhansali was left obliged by Akshay and his team’s kind gesture. Guess, out of all the things said in support of the film by the film fraternity, this gesture just takes the cake.

As of now, Padman will clash with Sidharth Malhotra’s Aiyaary, just the way it was initially supposed to be. Now, it remains to be seen if there is a change of plan again for this Neeraj Pandey film. Meanwhile, John Abraham’s Parmanu has now been locked for the Holi weekend and it will clash with Anushka Sharma’s Pari on March 2, 2018.

While we got clarity on the release dates of a few films, we also saw a glimpse of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s look from Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. The two were spotted while shooting in Mumbai and the pictures went viral within minutes of getting leaked. Alia plays a simple Muslim girl while Ranveer too plays a street rapper from a humble background in the film. The looks shocked many, especially Ranveer’s. He posted a picture on his Instagram as well to show his transformation from Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat to Gully Boy. One look and you’ll know what a shape shifter this guy is.
