Helen H. Stevens, 90, of Rockford passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018.

Born April 22, 1927 in Big Mound, Lee County, Iowa, to William and Grace (Smith) Hemmings. Married Edwin Stevens on June 18, 1949 in New London, Iowa. Employed as a hospital dietician, travel agent, and then as a receptionist for H&R Block for over 25 years.

Helen was a selfless and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking for family, and international travel. They went on many mission trips and enjoyed taking trips to see her family.

Helen was an active member and volunteer at First Assembly as well as at Fairhaven Retirement Center for 17 years.

Survivors include husband, Edwin Stevens; children, Duane (Carol) Stevens of Willow Street, PA, Carita Powers of Rockford, Gloria (Dick) Rissman of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Tim (Desirée) Stevens, Matt (Lesley) Stevens; great grandchildren, Scarlett and Colt Stevens, Nate and Kylie Stevens; “adopted family” Al and Arlene Andersen, and Ashley (Peter), Abby (Brandon), Annika, Austin, and Alex.

Predeceased by brother, Dorrence; sisters, Betty, Kathryn; son-in-law, Larry, and great grandson, Sean.

A special thank you to the wonderful nursing staff of Fairhaven for their kind and loving care they gave to Helen.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 in Hagele and Honts Funeral Home, 712 Main Street, Mediapolis, IA 52637. Burial in Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis, IA.
