Bhopal: Agar no exception: MPs, MLAs at loggerheads in many districts

Bhopal: Supporters of MP Manohar Untwal beating up MLA Gopal Parmar at Agar during the Ekatma Yatra, has set alarm bells ringing in the state BJP. Though the dispute between the two erupted into the open at Agar, the fact is that MLAs and MPs are at warpath in many districts of the state.

BJP state chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, who represents the Khandwa constituency in the Lok Sabha, does not see eye to eye with the minister for woman and child development Archana Chitnis. On more than one occasions, other organisational leaders had to mediate in disputes between them. Clash between the supporters of the two at Burhanpur was averted at the last moment due to the efforts of the party leaders.

In Balaghat, MP Bodh Singh Bhagat and agriculture minister Gaurishankar Bisen are at loggerheads and their dispute has spilled onto the streets. After a verbal duel between them at a public function, the party leadership had to work out a compromise between the two. In Damoh, MP Prahlad Patel has locked horns with rural development minister Gopal Bhargava. Patel had even staged a sit-in at a police station in Bhargava’s constituency Rehli after a dispute with him. Clashes between their supporters have become the order of the day.

In Indore, the relations of Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and MLA Ramesh Mendola are far from cordial. Many disputes between them were resolved with the help of the party organisation. In Bhopal, MP Alok Sanjar cannot organise any function in the constituencies of Huzur MLA Rameshwar Sharma and Narela MLA and minister Vishwas Sarang.

The relations between MLA Hemant Khandelwal and MP Jyoti Dhurvey in Betul, MP Chintaman Malaviya and MLA Mohan Yadav in Ujjain and MP and union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and state minister Jaibhan Singh Pavaiyya are also strained.
