Mumbai: Mumbai University Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Devanand Shinde on Friday announced that the evaluation for the fifth semester was going on smoothly and promised that the results will be announced by next weekend.
Addressing the media on Friday, Mr. Shinde assured that 90% of the evaluation process was over and results will be out soon. Of the 402 exams conducted, results of 129 are out.
“The teachers for the process of evaluation, were around 12,618 and payments for the same have been made already,” he said.
At the meeting, Arjun Ghatule, controller of examination, Mumbai University explained that the process of correction had been divided into two parts — semester-end evaluation and the revaluation from previous semesters.
No software glitches
“Unlike the previous semester, the software has not shown any glitches. Last time, we saw troubles from supplement papers mixing up and going missing, to software glitches like overlapping of teacher profiles which led to wrongful payments. But this time, there has not been a single problem, which is why the results have already been declared, they were evaluated in less than 25 days,” Mr. Ghatule said.
On asking about Merit Trac’s contract, Mr. Ghatule said, “The contract has been signed for three years but the work order is subject to revision at the end of every year. After the glitches we saw last semester, we decided to give them one more opportunity this year. On the basis of this year’s performance we will decide on any action to be taken if need be. But they do not have a reason this time.”
With 4,529 revaluation scripts pending of the approx 9000 students, the University officials were only happy to announce that the process of revaluation is also coming to an end and the results will be up soon too.
“The previous semester was a little more than just challenging but we have made up for it and I can assure nothing of that sort is going to be repeated this time,” Mr. Shinde said.
