Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said he was unable to agree on a solution with President Trump on how to fund the government during his White House meeting, and said more talks were needed.

"We discussed all of the major outstanding issues. We made some progress but we still have a number of disagreements. The discussions will continue," Schumer told reporters outside the Capitol.

Schumer had visited Trump to discuss the House-passed continuing resolution, which includes funding for the Children's Health Insurance Program, but not a solution to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Government funding is scheduled to run out at midnight Friday.
