Burglars broke into a locked house at Sector-V of MVP Colony in the city and decamped with ₹ 8 lakh in cash, 750 gm of gold jewellery and a few liquor bottles.
The incident took place in the house of K Surendra Reddy, a real-estate businessman, and it came to light after Mr. Reddy returned home on Friday morning.
Mr Reddy along with his family members had gone to Singapore on January 13 and they returned home in the morning and found that the back door of the house was broken open.
The burglars had gained entry by breaking open the back door of the house. The cash and gold jewellery which were kept in almirah were found missing. Based on a complaint lodged by Mr. Reddy, the crime branch of the MVP Police Station led by Sub-Inspector K Govind visited the crime scene.
Sources said that the burglars also decamped with four foreign liquor bottles and did not bother to touch the low-grade liquor bottles.
Though Mr. Reddy shifted his family to a new house at Rushikonda area, he did not shift valuables from the house. The police have registered a case and investigation is on.
“We are suspecting the local gangs might have been involved in the offence and we will nab the accused soon as we have got some clues in the case,” said the police.
