Journey and Def Leppard are teaming up for a summer tour that will stop at Houston's Toyota Center on Sept. 1.

Promotional materials for the tour were a little over the top: "Promising to be the Tour of the Year ..."

Journey guitarist Neal Schon was more measured: "So many hits."

On Tuesday RodeoHouston organizers showed off renderings of a new performance stage coming to the annual event in 2018. The new rotating stage debuts on February 27, 2018. Fittingly, Garth Brooks will be the first entertainer to perform on the new stage.

He speaks the truth. Def Leppard put 15 electro-hard rock songs in the Top 40 between 1983 and 1994. Journey knocked 18 hits out on its own between 1979 and 1996. The band also enjoyed renewed attention when its 1981 hit "Don't Stop Believin'" enjoyed a second wind thanks to "The Sopranos" or "Glee," depending on your age and TV viewing habits.
