(Jan. 18, 2018) Nantucket senior Kalik Liburd scored his 1,000th career point in the Whalers' 86-59 road win over Cape Cod Tech Thursday afternoon.
Liburd scored 25 points in the game, passing the 1,000-point milestone early in the third quarter. The Whalers are now 8-1 on the season, 7-0 in the Cape and Islands League.
Liburd is the first Nantucket player since Jessica Halford, who graduated in 2012, to score 1,000 career points, and the first boy since Jordan Ferreira, head coach Willis Ferreira's nephew, who reached quadruple digits for his career in 2008.
