Houston and East Texas is home to countless businesses, each of them with names aimed at drawing in customers. While some go for functionality, some business owners elect to be clever, using puns in a name.

For example, "Best Little Hair House in Texas," named after the musical featuring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds, "Best Little Whore House in Texas." Some may roll their eyes but those with a sense of humor (and some Texas pride) will chuckle at the name of the Beaumont business.

It's not just East Texas businesses, though, that are grabbing customers' attention with their names. Atlas Obscura is on a mission to list all punny businesses around the country, based on reader submissions.

"The pain mixed with pleasure of, say, something as evocative as Hannah and Her Scissors, or something as plainly wrong as A Shoe Grows in Brooklyn surrounds us," Atlas Obscura wrote. "After picking through duplicates, over 1,900 businesses made the map, which we think makes it the most complete pun business name map in the world."
