Racraquin tows San Beda past Mapua

MANILA, Philippines — Cesca Racraquin unleashed a triple-double performance as she powered San Beda to a 25-23, 25-14, 22-25, 25-15 win over Mapua into a share of the lead with reigning women’s titlist Arellano U in the 93rd NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City Friday.

Racraquin was all over the place as she unloaded 19 hits, including 17 on kills, while coming through with 17 digs and 13 receptions for her third triple-double of the season. Her performance helped the Lady Red Spikers nail their fourth straight triumph and the joint lead with the Lady Chiefs.

Ma. Nieza Viray, Trisha Paras, Satriani Espritu and Maria Jiezela Viray contributed 14, 13, 10 and 10 hits, respectively, to provide Racraquin, who honed her playing by playing both spiker and libero positions for Creamline in the Premier Volleyball League, the needed backup.

The Lady Cardinals skidded o their fourth loss in row.

In the men’s section, the Red Spikers trounced the Cardinals, 25-18, 28-26, 26-28, 25-20, to zoom to solo second with a 3-1 (win-loss) record behind co-leaders Perpetual Help and Arellano U, which are both unbeaten in four outings.

Mark Christian Enciso uncorked a match-best 25 points, including 22 off kills.
