Hey, ASU students, the new Someburros near the Tempe campus is hiring 50 people, and if you can keep your grades up, the restaurant will help you pay for books.

Bring your resume and school schedule to the job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at the new location, 1314 S. Rural Road.

The restaurant expects to open in early April and is filling part- and full-time positions: cooks, cashiers, dishwashers and managers.

As part of its new Burros for Books program, Someburros will reward student employees with a $250 reimbursement for books. Students must be hired before Feb. 2 and stay employed through the end of the spring semester while maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The family-owned chain of casual Mexican restaurants recently opened in Queen Creek, and the new Tempe branch will be the eighth Arizona location. The site is south of Apache Boulevard, just off the Arizona State University Tempe campus.

The 2,800-square-foot restaurant will feature a street-side patio, a pickup window for call-ahead orders and  beer on tap.

The Vasquez family opened the first Someburros in 1986 in Tempe. Today, most locations are in the East Valley, and Flagstaff has the only branch outside metro Phoenix.

As the name suggests, burros are king at the restaurant, with fillings such as machaca, red chile beef and carne asada. The menu includes enchiladas, nachos, tacos, tostadas, salads and breakfast items.
