Update, Jan. 19: 

One of two people killed in a collision between a car and an 18-wheeler Sunday, in Caddo Parish has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.
 
Rex Vincent Walker-Sullivan, 29, was the driver of a vehicle southbound on the I-49 North overpass at state Highway 173 that collided head-on with the big rig around 6 a.m.
 
The passenger in the car, whose name is withheld pending family notification, was ejected. Both the car and cab of the tractor trailer caught fire and were completely consumed by flames, Caddo sheriff's deputies said.

Caddo Parish deputies are investigating a fatal crash the occurred early Sunday morning on the I-49 north overpass at Dixie-Blanchard Road.

Deputies responded to a major traffic accident call at 6:16 a.m. Lt. Mike Gray stated a car was northbound in the southbound lanes of I-49 when it collided head-on with an 18-wheeler.

Both the car and cab of the tractor trailer caught fire and were completely consumed in flames. Both occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the truck owned by Target Energy was able to free himself from the cab and escape. He was transported to University Health by North Caddo EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

The fire was extinguished by Caddo Fire Districts 1 and 7.   

Gray advised there is frozen water on the overpass. The overpass remains closed to traffic until the investigation is concluded and the road is safe to travel on.
