AVON - Route 24 north is presently closed after a serious two-car crash early Friday.
Commuters are warned to avoid the area this morning after the crash occurred near exit 19 with one of the vehicles involved landing in woods near the northern section of D.W. Field Park.
One victim was ejected from one vehicle and flown to a hospital with two others taken to hospital by ambulance, all with unknown injuries at this time.
A white vehicle, which left the highway and struck a utility pole, taking it down along with some wires, appears to be split in two.
The highway remains shut down on north-bound side at 5:30 a.m., with a couple of lanes open on the south-bound side. It is unknown when the roadway will fully re-open.
A crane has been brought in to remove the car from the woods and National Grid officials are standing by to ensure the safety of the operation and then to repair the pole and wiring.
The crash remains under investigation and this story will be updated.
