Facebook outs fix for this super annoying iOS Messenger bug

No sooner had Apple promised a fix for the Messages app bug, that another iOS popular communications tool began playing up.
The Facebook Messenger app for iPhone and iPad had been suffering from an annoying bug that limited some users ability to type within chats.
Those affected by the flaw were only able to type a few words at a time before the app froze and prevented the user adding anything more.
Many users speculated the problem began when the app autocorrected a word, and was not resolved by a restart or reinstall.

However, now it appears Facebook has resolved the issue with a silent update late on Thursday.
In a statement (via TechCrunch), the social network wrote: “On January 17th, we learned that a very small number of people who were using Messenger on iOS had some trouble in typing messages. We investigated and the problem is resolved. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Facebook did not comment further on what had caused the issue, which left some of the billion plus users frustrated. You can see the problem, which didn’t affect Android users, showcased below.

The issue arose as Facebook promised to simplify the cluttered Messenger application in 2018.
“The app became too cluttered,” said Messenger boss David Marcus in a blog post. “Over the last two years, we built a lot of capabilities to find the features that continue to set us apart. A lot of them have found their product market fit; some haven’t.”
