Sambalpur University edged out KIIT and sealed a place in the semifinals of the ongoing SOA Premier League (SPL) T-20 cricket championship at the SOA Stadium here on Thursday.
Sambalpur became the second team to enter the semifinals after Ravenshaw University, who brushed aside the Centurion University by 75 runs yesterday, by winning both their group-C ties.
While in the group-A match played later, MG Kashi Vidyapith crushed National Law University, Orissa (NLOU) by 81 runs.
KIIT won the toss and electing to bowl first and scuttled Sambalpur out for 100 in 17.3 over. In reply, Sambalpur bowlers restricted KIIT to 77 in 19.2 over.
In the match between Kashi Vidyapith and NLOU, the former hit up 203 for five in 20 over and then bowled out their opponents for 122 in the same number of over.
