PICKENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Pickens County Sheriff Rick Clark on Friday announced that an undercover drug operation that began in May 2007 and is still ongoing has resulted in 13 people being charged with 37 charges so far.
Sheriff Clark said getting drug dealers off the streets and getting drugs out of the community was part of his mission both as sheriff and as a Christian.
Clark said his deputies went after distributors, and suspects believed to be in high rankings in area drug-trade.
“It’s important to note that these weren’t just users, these were high level distributors, who were in an action network of disturbing our county and destroying lots of lives across our county."
Clark encouraged people battling addiction to get help. He said addicts can seek help and get treatment without fear of law enforcement.
