During the latest instalment of This Morning, Alison - who replaced Eamonn Holmes after he was struck ill hours before the show - joined regular host Ruth Langsford for the day. 

And just minutes into Alison’s last-minute booking, she really put her foot in it with Sunday Express royal correspondent Camilla Tominey.

Camilla appeared on the ITV show to reveal how Megan Markle broke royal protocol during her visit with Prince Harry to Cardiff Castle yesterday. 

Though, before Camilla had barely got a word out, Alison went in for a hug. 

“You’re a good hugger,” Camilla enthused. 

But as Alison backed off, her face said it all: “Oh god, I got make-up all over your sleeve!” she gasped. 

“I’m so sorry, it comes out!" the former Strictly Come Dancing star assured. 

Regardless, This Morning fans were absolutely loving Alison’s rare stint as main host and called for the presenter to take the role on full-time. 

“Alison is doing a TERRIFIC Job hosting today,” beamed one viewer, which was followed by: “Absolutely love seeing Alison co-presenting on @thismorning she's fab!”

A third asked: “Can Alison replace Eamonn every time?”

“Loving Alison co-presenting with Ruth,” declared one more, while this delighted audience member admitted: “Really wasn’t looking forward to Alison @thismorning but surprisingly so far enjoying #ThisMorning.” 

Ruth revealed Eamonn was unable to make it into the studio today as he’s been struck down with a bad throat.

“Good morning, welcome to Friday’s This Morning,” she greeted viewers. 

“Well, they’re dropping like flies in my house. I’ve had Jack off this week with the lurgy and then this morning, Eamonn woke up with no voice. 

“He literally can’t speak, he was croaking. He had to write notes. So yeah, he’s off sick today.”
