Burleigh County commits money to homeless housing cause

January 19, 2018 09:16 AM

The Burleigh County Commission has designated $6,000 to help the United Way connect Bismarck-Mandan's homeless with emergency housing through the end of June.

The agency has been providing hotel vouchers and other forms of assistance since Ruth Meiers Hospitality House closed its men's emergency shelter last October.

Bismarck's City Commission earlier this month dedicated $10,000 toward the cause.

The Bismarck Tribune reports the United Way has raised $292,000 of the estimated $325,000 needed to meet emergency housing needs through June.
