TDA tops Mitchell Christian girls

TRIPP—Mitchell Christian fell behind 30-4 early and couldn't recover against Tripp-Delmont/Armour in girls basketball action on Thursday in Tripp. The Golden Eagles lost 67-26.

The Nighthawks led 30-4 after the first quarter and 47-14 at halftime. TDA stretched its lead to 60-21 entering the fourth quarter.

"(TDA is) a good basketball team and they've playing together for a number of years," MCS coach Chris Nemec said. "It really showed early on."

Kianna Payer led TDA with 16 points, while Brooklyn Brouwer had 12 points and three steals. Ashlee Gerber had six of TDA's 21 rebounds. Mattilynn Reiner dished out four assists.

Mitchell Christian's Erica Thompson scored eight points and Jocelyn Baas added six points. Charlotte Haag collected four rebounds.

"I think right now it's important to just learn and just keep playing hard every game," Nemec said. "We've taken our lumps but I don't think there's a game all season where I've questioned our team's willingness to work hard. As they continue to grow and improve, we'll be better off."

TDA, which has now won seven games in a row, moves to 9-2 on the season and will play at Gayville-Volin Saturday. Mitchell Christian (3-7) plays at Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday.
