Officials say refugees will no longer be resettled in Rutland, Vermont.

The Rutland Herald reports the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants has announced it will "zero out" its refugee arrival target for the city until further notice from the State Department's Bureau of Populations, Refugees and Migration.

The nonprofit said in October it was planning to relocate 75 people to Rutland. Fourteen refugees from three families arrived in the city so far in fiscal year 2018.

Acting Chief Executive Eskinder Negash said Jan. 4 the USCRI was asked to change its placement plan based on several executive orders that capped the number of refugees admitted to the United States.

Rutland Mayor David Allaire said Wednesday the city is "in limbo" unless the federal government makes a decision.
