Start stocking up on Aqua Net, Iowans, because a heavy dose of hair rock is headed to Iowa’s capital city this summer.
Announced Friday, 1980s staples Journey and Def Leppard return to Des Moines on July 23 for a one-night, co-headlining show. Tickets go on sale Feb. 3 via the Wells Fargo Arena box office, Hy-VeeTix.com by phone at 844-55-HYVEE or at participating Des Moines area and Ames Hy-Vee locations.
Regularly touring through the Hawkeye state, Journey last appeared at the arena for a co-headlining performance with the Doobie Brothers in 2016; Def Leppard last made a stop at Iowa’s largest indoor venue in 2017 as part of a tour with Poison.

Additionally, both acts have appeared at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand multiple times, the most recent being Def Leppard in 2015.
Journey, fronted for the last decade by Arnel Pineda, is known for power rock staple and “Sopranos” closing number “Don’t Stop Believin,’” as well as fan-favorites “Any Way You Want it” and “Faithfully.” Def Leppard took claim to a corner of ‘80s glam rock with numbers “Pour Some Sugar On Me” and “Love Bites.”
The tour, which kicks off May 21 in Connecticut, plans to feature new stage production and full sets from both acts, a news release said. The tour runs through 58 cities, wrapping in Los Angeles this October.
