The Hamburg-based data protection start-up eBlocker announced that it has raised a "seven-figure sum in additional capital" from High-Tech Gruenderfonds (HTGF) to further develop its privacy products to let users retain control of their data online. The company launched its eBlocker Base product late last year, which protects users from "data espionage" by internet providers, said HTGF.

Its eBlocker Pro service blocks online advertising that collects user data and protects users from browser-based attacks. The company is planning to launch eBlocker Enterprise, a similar service for companies, research institutions and public-sector authorities, in mid-2018. eBlocker's products can be used on all internet-enabled devices, including tablets, smartphones and smart TVs.
