“I’m going to direct Suriya 36 as a fan of Suriya,” says Selvaraghavan

Director Selvaraghavan’s next untitled film with actor Suriya, fondly called by fans as Suriya 36, is one of the most-awaited films of 2018. The film marks the first-time collaboration of Suriya and Selvaraghavan and his fans are very excited about the powerful combo.

“I’m going to direct Suriya 36 as a fan of Suriya. I never take so much time to finish a script. But I took nearly six months to complete Suriya 36 to respect the expectations of audiences,” said Selvaraghavan in a recent interaction.

Produced by Prabhu SR’s Dream Warrior Pictures, best known for bankrolling quality content-driven films such as Aruvi, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Maya, and Joker, is producing the film. Prabhu has already announced that Suriya 36 will definitely hit screens on Diwali 2018 alongside Thalapathy Vijay’s Thalapathy 62 with director AR Murugadoss and Thala Ajith’s Thala 58 with director Siva. Sai Pallavi, who is making her Tamil debut with Karu directed by Vijay, and Rakul Preet, who was last seen in Karthi’s investigative cop thriller Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, play the female leads in Suriya 36, whose music composer is yet to be finalized.

Suriya’s Thaanaa Serndha Kottam which hit screens on January 12th for the Pongal festival is enjoying a decent run at the box office although it has a long way to go to be a profitable venture for all the stakeholders involved in the film. Produced by Studio Green’s Gnanavel Raja, Thaanaa Serndha Koottam features Keerthy Suresh as the lead heroine. The album composed by Anirudh Ravichander went on to become a chartbuster. The film is an official adaptation of Akshay Kumar’s Hindi hit Special 26 directed by Neeraj Pandey.
