Third boy battling for life

Two of three teenagers riding a scooty died in an accident after their vehicle crashed into a truck in Sagarpur on Thursday morning. The police said the teenagers were riding without helmets and took a wrong turn to escape police checking.

The deceased have been identified as Monu (15), rider, and Firoze (14), pillion. Rohit, another pillion, has suffered grievous injuries. The three boys were residents of Durga Park. While Monu and Firoze died on the spot, Rohit is stated to be critical.

According to the police, the accident happened around 12.30 p.m. when Firoze, Monu and Rohit were heading on the scooty towards Naseerpur Mandi from Durga Park. The three boys were on their way to meet a friend.

They saw police barricading on the main road. Scared of being caught, the trio immediately took a U-turn and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. . The three were flung into the air due to the impact of the accident.

A passer-by who witnessed the accident informed the police who rushed all the victims to Deen Dayal Upadhayay hospital. Firoze and Monu were declared brought dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-west) Milind Dumbere said the driver of the truck, identified as Ayodhya, tried to run away leaving the vehicle on the spot. The passers-by however, caught him and handed him to the police .

A case under relevant sections of IPC have been registered at Sagarpur police station. The police said Firoze was a student of Class XI while Monu studied in Class IX. Rohit is a student of Class XI. The trio lived in the same locality — road number 14 of Durga Chowk in Sagarpur. Their parents are employed in private jobs. The scooty belongs to the parents of one of the three.
