Acharya Devvrat celebrates 59th birthday
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Acharya Devvrat celebrated his 59th birthday at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, and the Union Ministers, Governors of various states greeted him on phone and wished him a long and healthy life. Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh also greeted him at Raj Bhavan. Food and Civil Supplies Minister Kishan Kapoor called on the Governor at Raj Bhawan and greeted him. Chief Secretary Vineet Chaudhary, Director General of Police SR Mardi, Director Information and Public Relations Anupam Kashyap and other senior officers of the State Government including other prominent people joined the birthday celebration at Raj Bhavan in the morning.
Haryana govt fixes VVIP meals’ rates
Chandigarh: Haryana Government has fixed the rates of VVIP lunch and dinner at `375 per head and snacks and coffee served in the state level meetings at Haryana Niwas at Rs 75 per head. Spokesperson said that these instructions had been issued to all the departments, all Commissioners of the Divisions, the Registrar General, High Court of Punjab and Haryana and all Deputy Commissioners to adhere with these instructions and ensure its compliance strictly.
Medical Officers to re-designate as additional SMOs in Haryana
Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has approved the proposal of Health department to re-designate Medical Officers as Additional Senior Medical Officers after their second Assured Career Progression (ACP). Spokesperson said that the approval was given in view of the demand of Haryana Civil Medical Services (HCMS) Association for change in designation.
Hry Sahitya Akademi launches its website
Chandigarh: Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajesh Khullar, who is also the Executive Vice-President of Haryana Sahitya Akademi, on Thursday launched the Akademi’s website www.haryanarachnakar.org. With this, Hindi and Haryanvi litterateurs will now be able to post their creations online on the website. Khullar said that the role of digital media is quite significant in the 21st century and the step of the Akademi in this direction is commendable. He said that this is the first website for the litterateurs where their creations would be available online.
Punjab team’s selection trials on Jan 20 for all India Civil Service Cricket tourney
Chandigarh: The selection trials for Punjab cricket team regarding All India Civil Services Tournament would be held at the practice ground of the PCA stadium on January 20 at 11 am. The state Assistant Director (Sports) Kartar Singh on Thursday said that the tournament would be held at Vijaywada in Andhra Pradesh from January 27 to February 5, 2018. Interested employees can participate in the selection trials after obtaining NOCs from their respective departments.
Brahmakumaris celebrate World Peace Day

Chd Mayor visits newly set up Compost Plant
Chandigarh: The city Mayor Davesh Moudgil on Thursday visited the newly setup Waste to Compost plant at the Garbage Processing Plant site in Dadumajra, accompanied by Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jitender Yadav, Additional Commissioner Dr Saurabh Mishra, area councillor Farmila, and other concerned MC officers. Mayor took round of the Plant and representatives of JP Garbage Plant apprised him about the processing of garbage and compost unit inside the plant site.
Directions issued to officers across Punjab regarding National Voter Day
Chandigarh: To make the voters or general public aware about the importance of democratic system of India, rights and duties as voters, the National Voter Day would be observed on January 25, 2018. As per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the National Voter Day would be observed simultaneously all across the state and instructions have also been issued to all the officers to ensure adequate participation of the youth in the programme, said an official spokesperson of Punjab Chief Electoral Officer.
Punjab VB nabs revenue patwari in bribery case
Chandigarh: Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, on Thursday nabbed Revenue Patwari red-handed while accepting Rs 3,000 bribe. Harbans Singh Patwari posted at Kular Khurd in Sangrur district was nabbed red handed by Vigilance team for accepting bribe of Rs 3000 from a complainant Simranjit Singh of village Kheri, tehsil Sunam, Sangrur district. Complainant has approached the VB that accused Patwari was demanding Rs 3000 for mutation of land in the name of his mother. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations was under progress.
