MOST ACCURATE FORECAST: Taste of winter on the way!

PHOENIX - It's a warm winter week in the Valley of the Sun, but that will be changing as we head into the weekend!

We're staying dry Friday with a high of 76 degrees. That's about 8 degrees above average for this time of year.

Big changes hit this weekend as a cold front moves through Arizona. That will pick up our winds, drop our temperatures and bring a chance of rain to the desert.

Right now, it looks like we'll see a 20 percent chance of showers on Saturday. The spots that do get rain will likely get less than a tenth of an inch.

Snow levels up north will drop to around 4,000 feet through the day on Saturday. Most of the accumulating snow will stay above 6,000 feet with the potential for two to five inches for places like Flagstaff and the Mogollon Rim.

Gusty southwest winds will also crank up for northern Arizona beginning late in the day Friday and persisting into Saturday. Gusts could reach over 40 mph at times, especially on Saturday.

If you're headed up north for the weekend, you may encounter some hazardous travel conditions on the roads with some slick spots and reduced visibility from blowing snow.

Cooler air moves in Saturday dropping temperatures around 15-20 degrees as we head into the weekend.

Valley highs only reach the upper 50s to low 60s Saturday and Sunday, putting us several degrees below normal over the weekend.

We'll also feel some pretty cold morning temperatures as lows drop into the 30s across the Phoenix metro early Sunday morning.

Temperatures will be back on the rise next week with mostly sunny, dry days ahead.

Highs will hit the mid 60s Monday before climbing into the low 70s by Wednesday.
