Vikings Prep For NFC Championship Game

Travis Fossing reports:

Sioux Falls, SD

The Minnesota Vikings haven't played in a Super Bowl in more than 41 years, and have lost five straight NFC Championship games.  It's a streak that dates back to New Year's Day, 1978, and one they'll look to put to rest on Sunday.

The Vikings have put the Minnesota Miracle in their rearview mirror, and are preparing for Philadelphia and its swarming fourth-ranked defense.

"All eleven guys they line up, and even the guys they bring in to play, they're all solid players.  Hardly ever out of position, really, really talented group.  They disrupt the run and the pass really well.  I could sit up here and talk about them all day, but you look at their stats and they kind of speak for themselves.  They're a good defense," Case Keenum said.

"We're going to have to do a good job up front.  We know that every week, as that's a big deal for us, but it doesn't stop there for this defense.  They've got guys at every level and guys that are playing really well together," Adam Thielen said.

After losing Carson Wentz to an ACL injury, the Philly offense has struggled to score points in recent weeks.  The Eagles tallied a touchdown and three field goals in last Saturday's 15-10 win over Atlanta, though Case Keenum had nothing but praise for good friend, and opposing quarterback, Nick Foles.

"Great football player.  Prepares well, extremely talented, big arm.  He's really, really athletic too, so I know he's got a lot of confidence and I'm looking forward to playing against him," Keenum said.

Points could be at a premium Sunday, but Mike Zimmer says expect the unexpected.

"Going into the game you really never know.  There's times I said this could be a low scoring game and it's 30-28, or something like that.  You've just got to go out and play the best that you can, and try and execute the very best you can," Mike Zimmer said.

The Vikings and Eagles meet Sunday in Philadelphia.  Kickoff is set for 5:40.
