Atomic energy and rockets were the rage in the 1950s

For better or worse, atomic energy and rockets were all the rage in schools in the 1950s. Kids all over Rhode Island were creating science projects that would reflect our competition in the space race. Despite the construction of fallout shelters across our landscape, bright-eyed students looked forward to a better future through technology.
