Initiatives underway to bring border killing to zero

Says home boss

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan yesterday said border killing has significantly dropped and the overall initiative to bring it down at zero is underway.

He said this while responding to a lawmaker's query in the Parliament.

Regular flag meetings are taking place between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on killing, injury and detention of Bangladeshi citizens, he said.

Recently, BGB took various initiatives between the people living at the border areas and the border security forces of both the countries for building confidence, he said.

In addition to this, the minister told the parliament that BGB units are monitoring the border area within 150 yards at night. The risky zones are being kept under surveillance round the clock by the BGB and BSF under co-ordinated patrol programme.
