Free eye camp benefits rural masses

Nearly 300 persons, majority of them from rural pockets, were screened for various disorders at the Mega annual free eye camp ,organised jointly by DVC under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR ) at Bokaro Club and Chakchhu Natrayalaya, Peterwar,  here on Wednesday and Thursday. A team of Dr DK, Gupta and paramedics from the hospital at DVC screened the patients among whom 69 were men and women for ailments including cataract and other vision disorders such as short and long sight, said club president Ln U.K. Nair.

According to club secretary Ln B Lakshmaiah ,those who had been identified with complications for surgical interventions such as cataract had been immediately sent them to the Chakchhu Natrayalaya, Peterwar for which special buses were organised to transport them. They were operated by Dr D.K Gupta and after getting their operation they would be brought back to the Bokaro Thermal on Saturday, added club Secretary.

Earlier on Wednesday DVC CE &project head Kamlesh Kumar inaugurated the camp alongwith Dr D.K. Gupta in presence of DGM M.K. Srivastaba, Ln Jogendra Giri, Ln P.K. Singh, Ln Dr H.Kumar, Ln Dr Veni K., Ln S.B. Singh, CE N.K. Chaudhary, Ln A.K. Tiwari   while   Ln U.K. Nair presided over it.

The Lions club office bearers Ln Jogendra Giri ,Ln T.N. Singh .Ln Sushil Kumar Singh ,Ln Binod Bhatia ,Ln Prakash Thakkar ,Ln Dharam Singh ,Ln S.B. Singh ,Ln N.P. Sinha ,Ln Jitendra Kumar Singh ,made an arrangements for the event and said that follow up patients progress would be done up to their releasing on Saturday .
