NSW Police charge Sir Trevor Garland over alleged sexual assault

A former diplomat and well known Sydney philanthropist arrested yesterday and facing four charges of sexual assault was last night taken to hospital, on the eve of his court appearance.
Sir Trevor Garland was due to appear in Sydney's Central Local court this morning, but his lawyer requested Magistrate John Andrews hold the matter over until 2pm.
Mr Garland, a former long-time honorary consul to the Solomon Islands, was arrested yesterday and charged with four counts of aggravated sexual assault.
New South Wales Police allege he assaulted a 24-year-old man at a home in Sydney's north west between March and April 2017.
Mr Garland was knighted for his services to the Solomon Islands and served as honorary consul for almost 20 years
Detectives searched the property in Oakhurst yesterday and seized several items.
