To track the situation in 115 backward districts

The NITI Aayog and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday entered into an agreement for the development of a monitoring mechanism, including the creation of dashboard and collection of data for improving the performance of 115 backward districts in the country.

NITI Aayog Advisor (A.P. & Telangana) Ashok Jain and AP Secretary (planning) Sanjay Gupta signed the MoU at the Collectors’ Conference in the presence of NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The objective of the collaboration is to design, develop and deploy an indicator-based digital system for implementation and performance monitoring of NITI Aayog’s transformation of the ‘aspirational districts’, train the district-level officers on the use and servicing of the digital monitoring system and to provide hosting and post-deployment maintenance.

The A.P. State Development and Planning Society (AP-SDPS)’s Real Time Outcome Monitoring System (ROMS) forms the basis of the monitoring mechanism. It will develop a digital structure on the lines of ROMS for tracking the programmes and schemes in poverty, health, nutrition, education and agriculture sectors.

Andhra Pradesh will establish an ‘Institute for Sustainable Development and Governance’ (ISDG) which will find solutions to the key developmental problems of people by creating and exchanging knowledge, designing and implementing high-impact initiatives, and equipping governments and other development organisations to address challenges and measure progress.

The ISDG’s advisory board consists of the Chief Minister, representatives of the NITI Aayog, the United Nations and globally reputed research and educational institutions and prominent philanthropists.
