Arsenal are expecting a busy couple of weeks in the January transfer window.
With Alexis Sanchez likely to complete a move to Manchester United by the weekend, this in turn will trigger Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s switch to the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger is also looking to tie up a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with some reports suggesting he has already agreed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Gunners.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are eager to sign a striker to take the burden off Alvaro Morata.
With Giroud, if I was Chelsea I’d be looking at Giroud if you’re looking at Carroll and Crouch
The Spaniard has fired blanks recently, and he has shown signs that the pressure is getting to him of leading the attack week in, week out.
West Ham frontman Andy Carroll is on their radar, although his game time has been limited over the past few years due to his spate of injuries.
Stoke’s Peter Crouch has now emerged as a shock target, as Antonio Conte seeks a target man as cover for Morata.

While Giroud has struggled to nail down a starting spot at the Gunners this season, the Frenchman has got his side out of some tight spots when he’s played.
And Merson thinks Giroud is the calibre of player the Blues should go for if they want someone more physical up front.
“With Giroud, if I was Chelsea I’d be looking at Giroud if you’re looking at Carroll and Crouch,” Merson told Sky Sports’ The Debate.
