In a major sealing drive, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has sealed 87 shops in four zones under its jurisdiction for misusing the property.
A senior official of the NMC said that the action was taken as per the directions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee. "Following the direction of the empowered committee, officials of the building department sealed 34 properties Indira market (Malka Ganj), 18 units under 9 properties at 'New Rajinder nagar, Shanker road market, 33properties at 'New Qutab Roads (Pahar Ganj) and two shops at Prashant Vihar.
"The order was issued by the committee appointed by the SC and we have acted accordingly. There is no need for sending any prior notice just before the action in that case," said a senior official from SDMC," he said.On December 28, 2017, the civic body had re-sealed 243 shops in Rajapuri market (near Rohini), which were sealed in 2007.
