With the decision of the Supreme Court setting aside notification issued by the Madhya Pradesh Government banning the release of Hindi movie ‘Padmaavat’, the State Government is in dilemma. The Government does not know what to do in the new scenario.
Giving clearance for release of the movie on January 25, Supreme Court set aside the notification passed by the States of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat against the release of the film.
Home Minister Bhupendra Singh has said that once the copy of the verdict is received, further decision would be taken. However, he claimed that directives of the Apex Court would be followed.
The Convener of Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalwi, talking to media persons in Ujjain on Thursday, said, “I would request Prime Minister to empower Union Cabinet to ban movies cleared by the censor board and which could not be challenged by the Supreme Court.”
Kalwi claimed that all the social organisations have given consent not to screen Padmawati.
He appealed to the social organisations which have been trying hard for the past two months to organise social curfew in the country to not go ahead with the country wide ban on January 25 which is the date of release of the movie.
To a query, he said that slapping of Bhansali happened as he came in between the clapping done by our men.
The feelings of people should be respected who are ready to die for social cause. He further said that his organisation would make all out efforts not to allow screening of the movie in MP.
It is the responsibility of the State to maintain law and order and the government should make its level best in this direction, he added.
