The Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) organised an educative symposium titled ‘Birds of PPL’ in its premises here recently to focus on ornithology and migratory birds.
Inaugurating the symposium, PPL COO Vishwajit Kumar Sinha said as custodians the current generation of human beings should take care of the earth and make it better place for living. He advised the children to promote wildlife and conserve nature as it is the biggest teacher.
Eminent wildlife experts like Suvendu Bhattacharyya, Umakanta Biswal, Satyabrata Mishra spoke on migration of birds and bird behavior. Bijay Kumar Das of Mangrove Forest Division talked about the flora and fauna of Bhitarkanika.
The main attraction of the evening was Saswat Pati and his younger sibling Sourav Pati of DAV Public school, PPL, photographs of birds from PPL they had captured through their lenses over the years.
Over 13,600 birds from far and wide have visited the water bodies of the PPL this winter so far. The surprise arrival of six Comb Ducks year was the main attraction.
