Meet to cut farm losses

Pune: Ways to decrease post-harvest losses of onion and garlic, specifically by the promotion of mechanization technologies, were discussed during a brainstorming session that was attended by experts from ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research and others.

The participants also said machinery developed by different manufacturers should be low-maintenance. Need-based mechanization was stressed upon along with providing the best skill-oriented technology to the Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The session was in collaboration with Indian Society of Alliums, Pune, and National Horticultural Research and Development Foundation, Nasik.
