The Knights of Columbus recently donated $2,968 to The Arc of St. Lucie County, the club's chosen recipient of its “Tootsie Roll” fundraiser.
This annual fundraiser, which happens again in February or March, sends Knights out into the community to solicit donations. For each donation, a Tootsie Roll is given in return.
The Arc of St. Lucie County serves more than 110 clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities daily.
Present for the donation were Knights Fred Daniels, Ken Simbala and Sonny Del Duca, along with Arc Executive Director Debbie VanSlooten and Curtis Boyd, president of The Arc of St. Lucie County’s board of directors.
Arc officials expressed gratitude to the Knights of Columbus for the donation, as the money goes toward much-needed resources for clients, programs and services.
“It is such an honor to have the Arc of St. Lucie County chosen as the recipient of this donation," said VanSlooten. "Serving others, especially people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has been my life’s work and when other local agencies acknowledge the good that our Arc does, I am always so thankful.”
Grand Knight Daniels also said, “We always give to The Arc. When you need us, we’re there.”
