Ujjain: UMC commissioner inspects ward 42, 39

Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) commissioner Dr Vijay Kumar J visited wards 42 and 39 and discussed with residents problems faced by them, and subsequent works done by UMC.
In Alkapuri, corporator Radheshyam Verma informed the commisioner about the drinking water problem in the area and asked for construction of an overhead drinking water tank. The commissioner ordered respective engineers to take required action in the matter and make sure that construction of the overhead tank began soon. He also gave instructions to paint the boundary wall of Alkapuri Park and demanded a proposal for an open gym in the park.
The commissioner praised the community hall building in Kishanpura and instructed to construct railings on the stair case and employ workers to ensure safety. In Valmiki Nagar, he asked to develop an open land into a garden. He also gave instructions to water plants near the road and conserve them.
On seeing an open drain in lane 5 and dirty open ground in Kanchanpura, the commissioner expressed displeasure. He immediately told officials to get the drain cleaned and reconstruct the drain with proper depth. He also instructed to cover the open drains in Ashok Nagar, resolve pending cases in the Prime Minister housing scheme and give houses to slum dwellers of Ghas Mandi road under the said scheme.
Deputy commissioner Manoj Pathak, Sunil Shah, superintendent engineer Hanskumar Jain, Gyanendra Singh Jadon, health officer BS Mehte, fire officer Ajay Singh Rajput and other officers were present.
