Popcaan lands movie role
Dancehall artiste Popcaan has landed a role in the Netflix drama, 'The Intent'. A representative of his management team confirmed the development yesterday, but declined to give details about the role Popcaan is expected play in the movie. The representative said filming is already taking place in Jamaica, and will continue into next week.
Although the post made no direct reference to the movie, Popcaan's official fanpage shared what appeared to have been a behind-the-scene image of the filming. The Intent 2 is scheduled to be released this summer.
The Intent, a UK crime thriller, was released in 2016. The movie follows up on drama from the first film, which saw an undercover police officer having his loyalties tested when the gang he's grown attached to becomes increasingly violent.
This is not the first time that the 'Unruly Boss' has tried his hand at acting as he starred in Canadian rapper Drake's Please Forgive Me short film back in 2016. News of Popcaan's movie role comes on the heels of another entertainer having landed a role in another Netflix film. Last week, it was announced that entertainer Shaggy would be making an appearance in the movie, Game Over Man, which is scheduled to be released on Netflix in March.
