Silver City attorney seeks to fill seat vacated by retired Hon. H.R. Quntero
SILVER CITY, N.M. – William Perkins announces his candidacy for District Judge of the Sixth Judicial District Court, Division I. The Division I judge’s position was vacated upon the retirement of the Hon. H.R. Quintero in March of 2017, and the voters of Grant, Luna, and Hidalgo Counties will elect a judge in the next general election.
Perkins received a bachelors degree in History from Brigham Young University, and later attended law school at the same university.
After graduating from law school, Perkins and his wife, Maria, moved to Silver City, New Mexico in 2003. He has been with the same firm, now named, Lopez, Dietzel, Perkins, & Wallace, P.C. for nearly fifteen years, where he has a broad law practice in criminal defense, civil litigation, wills, trusts, family law, and real estate.
He also serves as the city attorney for Bayard and Reserve.
One of the rewarding things of his practice is to meet with and represent people from all walks of life, gaining an appreciation for the diversity of this community, but more importantly, appreciating the good that we all have in common.
He and Maria have made themselves at home in southwest New Mexico, where they are raising their five children.
In addition to practicing law, Perkins taught business law for a number of years as an adjunct professor at Western New Mexico University. He has also been active with the Boy Scouts.
"I am excited to be running for judge and seeking the opportunity to serve a community that has been a great place to raise our family," Perkins said. "I believe I share many of the qualities of the best judges I have been in front of during my career, including a desire to treat everybody with fairness and courtesy, an even temperament, and a dedication to see that the law is understood and applied fairly in each case, to each individual."
