Here, the banking team of jagarnjosh.com has come up with last minute tips and strategy to crack the IBPS Clerk Mains examination 2018.
Time Management Tips for Mains:
Do not think about time in each section: This is because IBPS has already specified that there will be separate timing for each section and you have to finish that section within that time only. There will be no option for you to come back to that section after you have exhausted the allotted time to that particular section. So use your allotted minutes smartly and revise your answers immediately once you have done with the section.
Scan the section first: Every competitive examination has some easy, some moderate and some very tough questions – those who wish to ace the exam must learn to spot the easy ones and avoid the tough ones. No one will be able to attempt all questions in the given time and therefore the best approach is to focus on accuracy rather than on the number of questions to be attempted.
Start solving questions with a Calm Mind: When you are calm and peaceful, your mind starts thinking well and you can solve questions easily. Calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence, which is really required to crack the exam. Don’t get panic; it will decrease your speed.
The secret of success is to be in harmony with existence, to be always calm to let each wave of life wash us a little farther up the shore. - Cyril Connolly
Sectional Cut off is there: Well, this eliminates a lot of candidates in the examination since nobody is a champion in each and every section of the examination. However, a banking job requires equal ease with all the subjects in the examination. In case you are not comfortable in one or two sections, try to score decent marks in those sections at least. Otherwise, even if you score high in other sections, you are out of the race altogether.

Avoid negative marking: Candidates should avoid negative marking as it can reduce your score. Read and understand questions carefully before marking the answer. Do not ever think of attempting more questions in case you are not sure about them. In the examination hall, it seems correct but once you come out, the number of wrong questions increases and so does negative marks, thereby, reducing the overall marks in the examination. Focus on increasing your speed with accuracy because without that even 100 percent attempt won’t matter much for you. Aspirants are advised to avoid guesswork as there will be negative marks of 0.25 for each wrong answer.
Avoid using the shortcuts that you learn just before the exam: This is one of the aspects that should be kept in mind. Aspirants are advised not to use shortcuts that you are not completely sure about. Questions can be very tricky in the mains exam, so read them carefully before applying shorts cuts.
