India says it successfully tested a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile.
Officials confirmed on Twitter the Agni 5 missile was launched from a small island off India's east coast Thursday.
The ICBM is capable of carrying a nuclear weapon, and India's defense minister called the launch a "major boost" to the country's military capabilities.
This is the fifth time India has tested the Agni 5 since it was introduced in 2012.
The most recent launch was in late 2016.
