ALLAHABAD: Agitated over lack of basic facilities on the campus including clean and adequate numbers of toilets and common hall in various departments of
Allahabad University, the student federation of India (SFI) staged their protest on the campus of
Arts faculty, on Thursday.
Through their protest on the campus SFI demanded that the girl students of AU are regularly facing number of problems for which the varsity authorities should initiate forming of board named Gender sensitization against sexual harassment on the campus. "The atmosphere for the female students on the campus cannot be termed as 'fit' by any bench mark, there are neither sufficient numbers of toilet for the girl students nor the facility of common hall in the departments",

In their protest, SFI demanded that sanitary napkin vending machine should be installed in all the departments of AU without any delay so that the female student do not face awkward situation.
SFI also staged a 'nukkad nattak' (street play) in front of the Urdu department of the Arts campus. The play, titled 'chithi' depicted several of the problems faced by the women in the country including those arising from inequality and atrocities against them.
