The following food safety inspections were conducted recently in Lebanon County:

Inspected Dec. 13:
Friendly's #1237, 1701 Quentin Road, Lebanon
Regular inspection, two violations:
- Ceiling vent in dish wash area has peeling paint that may contribute to contamination of cleaned items.
- Food containers on drying shelf observed with food debris and gummy label residue.
The Filling Station, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra
Regular inspection, two violations:
- Raw fish was stored above the melons, in the walk-in cooler.
- Observed dish racks stored on the floor under the mechanical dishwasher.
A & M Pizza, 757 W. Main St., Palmyra
Regular inspection, six violations:
- Observed a lit cigarette burning on a food box stored on a shelf next to the walk-in cooler.
- Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (deli meats & non-exempt cheese), located in the walk-in cooler, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened.
- Observed a non-food grade brush, which is not easily cleanable, being used to coat oil on pans.
- Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration for chlorine.
- Observed duct tape being used to repair broken door handle on the Turbo Air upright refrigerator and loose handle on deli slicer.
- Observed deeply scored cutting board on baine marie not resurfaced or discarded.
Inspected Dec. 14:
New South China Buffet, 1800 Quentin Road, Lebanon
Regular inspection, seven violations:
- Raw chicken was stored above containers of various foods in walk in cooler.
- Observed various equipment in prep area with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, debris on non-food contact surfaces.
- Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.
- Observed handler drinking from a cup and not washing hands before resuming food preparation.
- Paper towel dispenser empty at the hand wash sink in the prep area.
- Observed hose stored over food container posing a risk of contamination
- Mechanical ware washing equipment observed with build up of filth and food residue and not cleaned before use, and frequently throughout the day.
Inspected Dec. 19:
Tony's Mining Company, 211 Rexmont Road, Cornwall
Regular inspection, two violations:
- Non-food contact surfaces (wire rack shelves inside the walk-in cooler) not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.
- Observed previously frozen, reduced oxygen packaged (ROP) fish not being removed from the ROP environment before thawing under refrigeration.

Inspected Dec. 21:
RITE AID #1662, 950 E. Main St., Palmyra
Regular inspection, one violation:
- Non-food contact surfaces (interior refrigerator shelves) not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil.

Lehman Buy & Sell, 625 Lehman St., Lebanon
Regular inspection, 11 violations:
- The person in charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the state Food Code as evidenced by incorrect responses to food safety questions.
- Sponges observed in the Sink area being used to clean food contact surfaces.
- The food facility does not employ a certified employee as required. An employee has not attended an approved training class, or has not applied for PDA certification.
- Paper towel dispenser was empty at the hand-wash sink in the prep area; there was no sign or poster posted at the hand-wash sink in the prep area to remind food employees to wash their hands; paper towel dispenser and/or soap dispenser for handwashing improperly installed by food prep / ware-washing sink; soap was not available at the hand-wash sink in the prep area.
- Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible.
- The hand-wash sink in the prep area being used as a food preparation sink as evidenced by observed food in the sink.
- Ham, turkey breast food, a potentially hazardous ready to eat food requiring date marking, in the refrigerator area was not date-marked, or was beyond the date-marking and requires discarding.
- Food facility does not have a three-compartment sink for manual ware-washing.
- Hot dog roller, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
- Food in the refrigerator area stored open with no covering.
- Lights are not shielded or shatter proof over the prep area.
Italian Village Pizza, USA, 2 Lehman St., Lebanon
Regular inspection, no violations.
Blouch's Mini Mart, 440 S. Ninth St., Lebanon
Regular inspection, six violations:
- Did not know of or where sanitizer or test strips are, or have knowledge of food code.
- Observed wiping cloths in extremely unclean condition in sink area.
- Sponges observed in the sink area being used to clean food contact surfaces.
- Observed dispensing equipment in self-serve area with an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue and debris on non-food contact surfaces.
- Observed food stored directly on the floor in walk-in cooler and freezer area rather than 6 inches off of the floor as required.
- Commercially processed ready to eat food, located in the walk-in and held more than 48 hours is not being marked with the date it was opened.
